A TOWN has seen a welcomed decrease in violent crime and burglary.

Burnham Town Council published its crime figures from August 2018 to July 2019, which showed violent crime had decreased from 151 incidents, during the same time from 2017 to 2018 to 125 in 2019.

Burglary had seen a minor reduction of two incidents, however, cases of shoplifting had risen to 28 from just six.

The number of incidents is as many as the four previous years put together.

Over the course of the last year, around 450 cases have been dealt with by police in Burnham, with 358 cases result in no further action.

A total of 14 suspects appeared in court, with 13 of them being convicted of crimes.
