Maldon’s Salvation Army have recently recruited new leaders.

Captain Caron and Lieutenant Jon Doyle have been ordained the new leaders of The Salvation Army on Wantz Road are ready to meet and serve the community.

After moving to Maldon in July with their two sons, the married couple will now be leading Sunday services at Maldon as well as overseeing the community work throughout the week.

They also previously served as Salvation Army leaders in Harwich on the Essex coast.

Lieutenant Jon said: “Caron and I are so grateful for the warm welcome we have been given, especially from our Salvation Army church family.

“It’s great that local churches play a key role in the life of this town, working together to serve the community.

“We can’t wait to get involved, to learn from local Salvation Army members and volunteers and see how we can support things moving forwards.”

The Salvation Army runs a coffee morning, a lunch club for older people and a parent and toddler group.

Captain Caron added: “We have a coffee morning every Wednesday at 10am – if you want to pop in to say hello and have a chat, we’d love to meet you.

“Alternatively, you can contact us via phone or email – our details are on our website.”

Salvation Army members can be found in town every Thursday selling the ‘War Cry’, The Salvation Army’s weekly magazine.
