A museum in Burnham will host a book signing and gala to celebrate its 30th anniversary.
The Mangapps Railway Museum first opened on the August Bank Holiday in 1989.
The event this Bank Holiday will feature nine steam and diesel locomotives.
Chris Phillips will be signing his recent book titled The Greatest Easter Railway in South Essex – A Definitive History on Monday.
The foreword to the book was written by John Jolly, the owner of Mangapps Railway Museum, and was published by Pen and Sword Books.
It follows the history of the railway lines from Shenfield to Southend, Wickford to Southminster and Woodham Ferrers to Maldon.
John Jolly said: “Over the past three decades, Mangapps has developed into a nationally recognised heritage railway centre.
“It’s a leading visitor attraction in Essex and this weekend will be a good opportunity to find out why.”
Diesel trains will be running from 11.30am to 5pm on Saturday, and steam and diesel trains will run on Sunday and Monday.
