A CHARITY is appealing for volunteers to launch a new fundraising group in the area.

Marie Curie is creating a group in Maldon which will raise funds to help support Marie Curie nurses who work in people’s homes providing hands-on care and vital emotional support.

The group will also support the charity’s major fundraising campaigns, including the Great Daffodil Appeal, as well as organising their own fun events, collections and stalls.

East Essex community fundraiser Sarah Millerick said: “Joining your local fundraising group is a really great way to raise funds for Marie Curie while also meeting new people and having lots of fun.

“We hope there are plenty of people in Maldon and the surrounding area who could give up a few hours each month to get involved.

“We are looking for individuals who are organised, have great communication skills and an eye for detail to join our group, which will help us raise vital funds for Marie Curie so that we can continue to provide support for those living with a terminal illness.”
