A COMMUNITY stalwart has been given an honour for her work.
Julie Taylor, who runs the cafe at St Peter’s Hospital in Spital Road, Maldon, was visited last month by the Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Essex, Dave Dennison BEM, who presented her with the Pride of Essex award.
Julie runs the cafe and foodbank which has become a valuable community resource.
The day also saw music performed by singer Jake Oakshott, while there was also a visit from Morrisons community champion Kathy Vale, who donated fresh juice for customers, and an Ambassador for Essex.
