A FUN-FILLED afternoon oozing with variety is coming to Halstead this weekend when an award-winning green space hosts its inaugural summer event.

Halstead’s Public Gardens is hosting its very first Summer Fayre on Saturday giving the local community a chance to mingle and social under the warm glow of the record-breaking summer sun.

The family-friendly event, which expects to welcome hundreds of guests to a garden recently shortlisted for the country’s best park, will feature an eclectic and diverse selection of activities and performances.

Dog lovers will take a keen interest in the cute pooch show and audiences will be entertained by hypnotising belly dancing performances and head-scratching magic tricks.

Craft and fashion stalls will also be on site for those looking to pick up some materials for a creative project or a new dress for a forthcoming engagement, and delicious foods and much-needed refreshments will satisfy all manner of taste buds.

Speaking about the beautiful venue set to place host to the event, chairman of the Friends of Halstead Public Gardens said: “The Halstead Public Gardens is a park for everybody, and it is well used with the events we have here and we make sure they are always free events.”

The Halstead Public Gardens Summer Fayre takes place this Saturday between 10am and 4pm and is free entry.
