Police in Chelmsford and Maldon have launched a new scheme alongside the community's neighbourhood watch groups
The Chelmsford and Maldon community policing team announced the new "collaboration" after arresting two people in connection with theft and drug related offences.
A silver Honda Civic was also removed from the road by officers during the arrest.
A spokesman for the team said: "Chelmsford and Maldon CPT have launched an exciting new tactic in fighting crime in collaboration with our Neighbourhood Watch Teams.
"Tonight, we have also arrested one person for theft related offences.
"One for drug related offences, who tried to run but we got you.
"We also have taken another uninsured, unsafe vehicle and driver off our roads."
Police in Maldon have been carrying out regular patrols throughout the Maldon District, taking in the clear nights at Promenade Park while on shift.
The team have continued to remove more drugs from the streets, finding another small number of substances, believed to Class A drugs.
A spokesman said: "The community policing team have been busy bees.
"Two arrested for Class A drug offences, one for handling stolen goods and another for theft and drugs offences."
