FIREFIGHTERS are urging residents to stay vigilant in the hot weather after a busy day out involved tackling a blazing field.
Maldon Fire Station had to respond to several incidents last Friday including standing by at Burnham Fire Station, putting out a field fire, tackling two more fires out in the open and attending a traffic collision on the A12.
A spokesman said: “With the hot weather continuing to stay with us over the next few days, please take care when disposing of anything hot.
“The ground is extremely dry and could catch fire very easily.”
Essex Fire and Rescue have also put out advice on reducing fire risks outdoors especially with barbecues, at essex-fire.gov.uk/news/Barbecue_safe_this_summer.
