A CARE home is celebrating after winning a prestigious award.
Southminster Residential Home won the Care Home of the Year award at the FaNs Network awards ceremony.
The evening at Colchester United’s Community Stadium saw the home honoured after several years of being involved with the FaNs Network.
Home manager Liz Wynn said: “This is a project to get communities involved in care homes across the whole of Essex.
“We have fully supported this project and its ethos and ethics it represents.”
The project also set up the Wishing Washing Line to the county where the home granted the wish of resident and former power-lifter Tom Johnston to watch a weightlifting competition.
Mrs Wynn added: “Having listened to the list of finalists, it was a major achievement for us to be the winner among so many good homes in Essex.”
