ART show organisers say there is still time to catch an annual show by the waterside.

The Burnham Art Trail, which began last week, has been busy with workshops, art displays, storytelling and live music events.

A team of artist volunteers, led by Sue Spiers and Tracy Saunders, worked to set up the gallery in Burnham Museum for last Friday evening’s launch party.

Sue said: “A new feature of the trail this year is the ‘Taster Wall’.

“This showcases artwork from each of the participating artists, whatever their medium or style, giving an overview of what visitors can expect through this year’s trail.

“The lively launch was opened by Art Trail coordinators Sharon Chan and Triss Norman, with deputy mayor Nick Skeens also giving a welcoming speech.

“A full weekend of arty fun continued with sketching at the ‘Drawing for the Terrified’ drop-in workshop at the Station House and then drumming followed by storytelling at Venue 4 – Frances Franklin’s studio and garden.

“Demonstrations and workshops continue right through to the end of the trail at the artists’ studios, including jewellery-making, glass bead-making, and watercolour and oil painting demonstrations – and homemade snacks and cream teas were also on offer at the Ramblers Retreat Studio.

“The first of our Art on the Quay events was a big success with many artists showing and sharing their skills with the public and aspiring artists who engaged in the activities on offer.”

Live music was provided by the Silver Darlings a female sea shanty band, followed by the Craic Heads playing traditional Irish songs and tunes.

Sue added: “Twelve artists took part in Art on the Quay either working beneath our new pink gazebos or painting ‘en plein air’ for the public to enjoy.

“Our second Art on the Quay day with 15 artists will be on Saturday with the popular group Stuck in the Middle at 1pm followed by Greavesey.”

The event starts at 11am and finishes at 5pm and the art trail closes this Sunday.
