A MALDON road is being given a temporary weight limit by Essex Highways so underground work can be safely carried out.
As of July 22, Southminster Road in Asheldham, Maldon will have a of 7.5 tonne weight restriction while a new gas connection is installed.
The limitation will run from the road’s junction with Tillingham Road and Hall Road in a south westerly direction, to a point 200 metres south of Green Lane and Foxhall.
The reduction will last until September 27, but there is the possibility of it being extended if it is within the interest of public safety to do so.
This means heavy goods vehicles such as lorries will have to seek alternative routes when travelling via B1021 and B1018.
