MAJOR works to upgrade the flooding prevention on Burnham Quay are taking place.
Burnham’s sea wall outfalls, which drain rain and flood water from the quay into the river, are being upgraded by the Environment Agency.
The outfalls feature heavy flaps that stop the spring tide water from going up the pipe and flooding on to the quay.
The works will take place on the seaward side of the town’s front seawall between Royal Corinthian Yacht Club and Priors Boatyard, with 11 flaps being replaced.
Work began on Monday and is set to last for two weeks.
