VISITORS of Maldon’s churchyards will be greeted with a new floral display.

Large wheelbarrow flower beds have been installed at St Peter’s church and All Saints’ church.

Members of Maldon in Bloom and town councillors have been involved with the project.

The idea came from Councillor Tony Shrimpton and members from the SHED network Martin Vale, Neil Bush, John Campbell and Paul Stockdale-Ward were involved with building them.

The planting scheme was designed and carried out by Chris Dalton, Jane Hudson and Sue Mason of the Maldon in Bloom Team and councillor Jhual Hafiz sponsored the project.

Housing developer Taylor Wimpey donated £500 to Maldon in Bloom to support schools and the community planting in the town’s open spaces.

Bloom member Dorreen Linton said: “I would like to say thank you to all those involved with the wonderful floral addition to our town centre.

“There have already been many comments on this colourful floral display to our churchyards.”
