The support of award-winning authors, comedians and music stars could be pivotal to the campaign to save our Essex libraries.
Although the signatures of Dame Jacqueline Wilson, David Walliams, Billy Bragg and David Baddiel may only account for four, their voices could encourage thousands more to give their support to the cause which could prevent the closure of dozens of the county’s libraries.
Libraries in Southminster and Wickham Bishops are at risk, but with the influence of writers such as Dame Jacqueline, whose Tracy Beaker books filled shelves in homes across the country, it could give the extra boost the campaign requires.
A campaign march was held in Chelmsford on Saturday.
