Tesco in Maldon has been involved in a host of charitable events in the Dengie this year.

The branch in Fullbridge’s community champion, Rhiain Oakley, updated the community on its recent events such as the Tesco car boot, litter pick, the Bags of Help scheme - which sees money raised from the sale of reusable bags donated to charity - and its involvement in this year’s Maldon Mud Race.

The car boot raised a total of £250 for the charities the supermarket represents including Diabetes UK and the British Heart Foundation.

Rhiain, who also won the Mayor’s Pride of Maldon award this year for her contributions to the community, spoke about Tesco’s involvement in the mud race.

It is the third year the supermarket has taken part.

She said: “This year there was fun to be had by everyone before and after the races started.

“We gave the participants a goodie bag with their medals and a hot drink.”
