A film club is showing its final film of the season this week.

Maldon Film Club’s 14th season comes to an end on Wednesday with the last screening being The Florida Project.

The Florida Project tells the story of Halley, who lives with daughter Moonee in a budget hotel along one of the commercial strips catering for the Disney World tourist clientele.

Halley, who survives mainly on welfare, has little respect for people especially those who cross her.

Halley, Moonee and Moonee’s friends, who live in the hotel or in others along the strip and whom she often drags into her disruptive pranks, are the bane of the hotel manager’s existence.

The film premiered at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival and was praised for its direction and acting.

It was chosen by both the National Board of Review and American Film Institute as one of the top ten films of the year and received several nominations and awards.

New club members are still welcome, and guests can pay £3 to see the film.

The club meets at Maldon Town Hall and doors open at 7.15pm for an 8pm start.

Details of the 15th season which runs through 2019/20 will be available soon.
