New figures have shown more than £100,000 in tax has not been paid to the council.
In a Freedom of Information request submitted by a resident to Maldon District Council, last year council tax arrears totalled £112,242.22.
The figure has risen over the years with arrears starting at £33,531.75 in the 2013/14 financial year.
A council spokesman said: “The council makes every effort to collect all council tax owed and has a very successful collection rate of 98.55 per cent in 2018/19.
“Non-payment does affect the delivery of services and therefore the Council has a commitment to pursue all outstanding accounts.”
