POLICE are still investigating a disturbance at a golf club after a fight broke out.

Essex police responded to initial reports of the 'large-scale' incident at Three Rivers Golf and Country Club in Stow Road, Cold Norton at around 1.15am on Saturday, May 18.

Detectives had been making enquiries throughout the day and are now investigating the incident as an affray and criminal damage.

Detective Inspector Kelly Thurston, from Chelmsford CID, said: “The initial reports into this incident indicated it was a large disturbance however following further investigation we believe this was a fight involving a small number of people towards the end of an otherwise peaceful event.

“We do not believe anyone has been seriously injured and no-one has so far come forward as a victim of an assault.

“I still need to speak to anyone who has any information about the incident, whether they be a victim or a witness.”

Earlier reports of the incident said a number of people left the area before officers arrived.

Officers need to trace them to find out what happened and ensure they are ok.

The golf club has declined to comment on the incident.
