Further to your article on May 2 regarding the Fambridge Road roadworks, may I say county councillor Kevin Bentley has absolutely no idea of the problems the road closures are causing.

He has caved in to developers when there was absolutely no reason to close Fambridge Road when it will be at least another three months before any residents move into the development, It is madness

To add to the complete lack of planning we have already had six weeks of single lane traffic at Mundon Road bridge to improve the drainage.

One must ask why the repairs were not done then.

Yet even more lack of planning shows in the detour route, which once you realise where it goes has a short cut over Cold Norton, a weak bridge (are we going to have to pay for repairs to this?), and through Cocks Clark village causing a major bottle neck where Marlpits Road meets the detour.

There is also the new bottleneck at the roundabout with the traffic coming from Danbury

To add to the list of planning cock ups there is the case of Southminster, where 100 houses are being built at the bottom of Scotts Hill where they plan to close Steeple Road and send all the traffic, from a major cut through from Foxhall Road, to Southminster through the new housing estate which, at the moment, has a road no wider than the road it replaces.

I am sure aggregate lorries and tractors will help the new residents settle in

As Mr Bentley is in charge of planning, one would assume he also has a plan for Latchingdon High street which is the major bottleneck for all traffic coming from Dengie area and all the new housing development at Latchingdon

One might also ask as Mr Bentley, who stood on the promise of more social housing, how much of these new developments is for housing association and council rental.
