I would like to add my feelings of disgust about how the Fambridge Road roadworks project has been handled.

I am a Purleigh resident and my journey time to travel to Maldon has been greatly extended.

I am sure that, as well as the landlord of the Royal Oak being greatly adversely affected, it is also affecting many people and shops in Maldon.

Many people in Purleigh are now being inconvenienced by heavy traffic and noise all day as cars are having to turn to Purleigh from the Wash junction and along the Chelmsford Road.

The closure of the Mundon route obviously makes the situation worse.

I cannot believe the roadworks could not have been handled in a less disturbing way with a shorter stretch controlled by traffic lights.

I have also noted increasingly the traffic lights heading south on Fambridge Road, which initially were almost permanently green, have increasingly often now turned to red.

This, I believe, is due to traffic other than buses or emergency vehicles are now chancing their arm by travelling north in spite of the road closure notices and therefore causing the traffic lights to change and causing still further delays.

We need this matter to be concluded as urgently as possible for everyone concerned.
