As the days count down to one of the UK's biggest events, we want to hear about all the people of Maldon and Burnham taking part in this year's London Marathon.

An expected 39,000 runners will take to the capital's streets on April 28, all looking to raise cash for a good cause close to their heart.

The Standard has already reported on a few people who are set to cover the 26.2 mile distance.

Here's some of our runners who will be lining up among thousands at the end of this month:

LARINA MARSH, FIONA AND SOPHIE PRATT

Maldon and Burnham Standard:

Best friends from Maldon, Larina Marsh, Fiona Pratt and her daughter Sophie who are running the marathon in name of Farleigh Hospice.

The trio picked the charity after it supported a friend's father before he passed away.

Mother and daughter, Fiona and Sophie have already tackled the distance twice in 2016 and 2018, meanwhile Larina is set for her first ever marathon.

LEE BRACE

Maldon and Burnham Standard:

Lee, 46, of Longfellow Road, Maldon will be a very noticeable participant in this year's event, as he will be taking on the marathon, dressed as a stormtrooper from Star Wars.

Lee, who is aiming to raise a total of £5,000 for Cancer Research, Macmillan Cancer Support, Farleigh Hospice and the Yes Partnership will be undertaking a host of crazy challenges this year, including the 874-mile stretch from John O’Groats to Land’s End.

He will complete the distance on a Raleigh Chopper Bicycle.

Lee is completing all of his challenges to mark his father, Chris, who sadly died ten-years-ago.

JACKIE RUSHBROOK

Maldon and Burnham Standard:

52-year-old Jackie from Maldon will be taking on the marathon in memory of her nephew, Kristian Long.

Kristian passed away in June 2013, after 19-year battle with cystic fibrosis.

Jackie has elected to run the marathon, her first one in support of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

She picked the charity after it made Kristian’s dream come true, giving him the chance to meet with the first team players of Premier League side, Chelsea FC.

DAVID PLANE

Maldon and Burnham Standard:

This father from Danbury will be running the gruelling 26.2-mile distance for the Sick Children's Trust.

David selected the trust after it provided him and his wife, Lesa with a home from home while their son, Broderick spent a month of his very young life fighting for survival at the Royal London Children's Hospital.

The couple were put up in Stevenson House, near to the hospital so they could visit their baby boy every day.

He hopes to raise a grand total of £9,000 for the charity.
