A FOOTBALL club is using its winnings from a successful cup run to give back to the community.
Heybridge Swifts FC’s historic FA Cup run, which saw the club progress to a first round match against League Two team Exeter City in November 2017, meant the club had £2,000 to give to good causes.
The club has decided to donate £1,000 to Essex Dementia Care, £500 to Action for Family Carers, and £500 to the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance Trust.
The grant came as part of a £248,000 fund, raised at the Community Shield match at Wembley Stadium in August 2018.
The cheques will be presented on the pitch at the Aspen Waite Arena on April 22, before Swifts face Coggeshall Town.
Vice-chairman Steve Spreadbury said: “It is great our FA Cup run has allowed the club to show its support for three local organisations which are close to our hearts.”
