Maybe "crime prevention" officer Ray Stannard can come round and tell them they are to blame for not being secure enough but not take finger prints. I'd suggest clubbing together and paying for some bouncers or private security personnel to patrol the street could pay dividends.
Calling Maldon police station for a non-emergency call can just leave you with no reply. A look at the Essex Police website will give a number in Chelmsford to call, otherwise dial 999.
999 is a number we are reluctant to call these days - does a yob dancing on the roof of your car merit a 999 call or should you call Maldon police and then not even get put through to Chelmsford? Probably a crime prevention officer will arrive two days later to tell you off for not putting anti climb paint on your Ford Fiesta.
Next week there will be a predictable reply to this letter by some top cop attempting explanation and excuse. We've heard it all before!
