An outdoor gym has launched today.
The brand new 'green gym' opened up officially this morning at Heybridge Academy in The Street,
The gym was opened up together by Heybridge parish council, Maldon and District Community Voluntary Services and Heybridge Co-operative Academy.
Its first session took place this morning, with another taking place next Monday morning from 10.30 to 11.30am.
After the two initial sessions the Green Gym will open on Saturdays between 10.30 and 11.30am from April 27.
Darya Varasteh, wellbeing coordinator for Maldon and District CVS, said: “Green gyms have shown benefits to individuals including improved physical health and muscle strength but opening this to the community we hope will provide a local hub for people to come together and facilitate friendships and community cohesion.”
