FANS of American new-wave rockers Blondie might think they are witnessing the real deal when a renowned tribute band teleports them back to the 1970s.
Bootleg Blondie - The Official Blondie and Debbie Harry Tribute formed shortly after aptly-named frontwoman Debbie Harris impersonated the Miami-born icon on TV show Even Better Than The Real Thing.
Her combination of uncanny looks, bleached hair, mirrored vocals and suitably outlandish onstage attitude – all of which will be on display during their performance at Witham Public Hall – has graced many established music venues and festival stages, such as legendary New York club CBGB’s and the Isle Of Wight Festival.
The Debbie Harry-endorsed imitators, who recently toured with Blondie’s charismatic drummer Clem Burke in celebration of classic album Parallel Lines’ 40th anniversary, will perform a plethora of popular tracks, including chart-topping dance-rock hit Call Me and the band’s 1979 disco-infused breakthrough Heart of Glass.
Blondie have released 11 studio albums since their formation in 1974, selling more than 40 million records worldwide.
They were the recipients of a prestigious Grammy Award in 1981 and have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
The show is on Friday, March 29, at 8pm.
Tickets are £15 on 0345 017 8717.
