A HOUSE could be redeveloped and converted into six social housing flats under a new proposal.

Plans have been published which propose to turn a house in Kings Road, Southminster, into four one-bedroom flats, with a two-storey extension attached to provide another two one-bedroom properties.

Developers Prime Group say they intend for all the properties to be available for affordable rents.

The developer is also keen to develop in the area because is nearby to a host of facilities.

A spokesman said: “The site would be in an ideal location for young, first-time buyers, or for individuals working in the local area.

“The building sits well back from the highway, maintaining an open landscaped corner.

“On the south side of this section of the road there is a linear grassed area with mature trees.

“The site is located just a one-minute walk away from the William Fisher medical centre and only a two-minute walk to the Southminster Pharmacy.”

The developers say the basic appearance of the plot will “remain unchanged”.

The new flats will all be fitted with an open plan kitchen, diner and lounge, a bathroom and bedroom.

A total of seven parking spaces will also be available on the site. A bike storage facility with enough room for six bicycles will also be fitted as part of the development.
