Painters, sculptors and crafters are being invited to apply to take part in a popular annual art festival.

The 15th Burnham Art Trail which takes place from June 22-30 has released its application forms for participation.

To enter, artists must submit three pieces of their work, a brief description of themselves, and a £25 entry fee.

All submissions will be reviewed by the selection panel, who will let applicants know if they are successful by mid-April.

Any unsuccessful applicants will have their entry fee returned.

The trail has a variety of events, including art demonstrations, workshops and community projects.

There are also Secret Postcards - original postcard-sized artworks, created and donated by artists to be auctioned by sealed bids.

Artists are encouraged to keep the trail fresh and interesting by providing new work a necessity.

Organiser Glynnis Dye said: “Burnham Art Trail has built an impressive reputation not only for the quality of work on show but also for our innovative activities and friendly welcome, becoming a must-do event on the Essex arts calendar.

“Last year, 49 artists took over our beautiful riverside town to create an art trail rich in variety and with a host of fun and creative activities and workshops.

“The trail attracted 2,417 visitors, and artists reported a good level of sales.

“The artists involved particularly enjoyed the social aspect, meeting fellow creatives and coming together to provide an excellent show to the public.

“The trail showed work from new and established artists.

“There really was something to suit everyone, from atmospheric land and seascapes to contemporary printmaking, installations, ceramics, textiles, jewellery and sculpture.

“Plans are under way to make the 2019 trail – our 15th anniversary year – the best one yet.”

The deadline for submissions is Friday, March 1.
