A DRINK driver has been banned from the roads for three years after he was caught more than four times the legal limit.

Paul Spanache, 34, of Maldon Road, Tolleshunt Knights, was stopped in Station Road, Clacton, on December 30.

A test revealed 145mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath – just over four times the legal limit of 35mcg.

Spanache admitted drink driving when he appeared at Colchester Magistrates’ Court.

He was sentenced to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work in 12 months, and must pay an £85 victim surcharge as well as £85 Crown Prosecution Service costs.

He was also banned from driving for 36 months by magistrates.
