A PUB has delivered Christmas meals to elderly parishioners who were going to eat their meal alone.

The Red Lion in The Street, Latchingdon, has delivered 12 meals so far since launching an appeal earlier this month.

A spokesman for the pub said: “The Christmas meals have been going out with presents and crackers all donated by residents. A massive thank you to everyone who has supported us to make this such a success.

“It has all been home delivery so thanks to everyone who gave up their time to help with this. Having a familiar face taking the meals was a great idea.

“We are not going to list people to thank individually as we know they didn’t do for any glory – it was all for doing a lovely thing for the community."

Resident Jen Fuller, who helped with one of the deliveries, said: “Thank you to you all, you are all amazing people.

“It’s so generous of you and I’m always happy to help.

“Seeing the smiling faces makes it all worthwhile.”
