A consultation will open in the new year for health hub plans as part of a new development.

The new Sainsbury’s development in Burnham Road, South Woodham Ferrers will house three GP services in the area at the new location.

The surgeries involved are Brickfields Surgery in Brickfields Road, Greenwood Surgery in Tylers Ride and Kingsway Surgery in Kings Way.

It is confirmed that the three practices are not merging and will only be occupying the same premises with their identities and patient lists remaining distinct.

The evening meeting will take place at William de Ferrers School in Trinity Square on January 9.

The public can attend for free but must register a place beforehand.

The practices will issue an FAQ for patients and public soon to answer some points ahead of the meeting.

Kensington and Edinburgh Estates secured planning consent from Chelmsford City Council for a mixed-use development in South Woodham Ferrers.

The site has been approved for a Sainsbury’s food store and new health centre to serve the community.

The 16,000-foot building will span two floors and could potentially allow for a dentist and pharmacy as well as additional facilities.
