THE Burnham festive fair promises to be a “magical event” this weekend.

The fayre will take place on Saturday in High Street from 2pm to 6pm.

There will be various stalls set up selling crafts, gifts and food. Elves will also be going around with buckets to collect money for the carnival’s chosen charities.

Carnival committee chairman Caroline Sarychkin said: “This will be a magical event in our lovely High Street.

“We’ll be distributing the profits from the event to good causes.

“All our hard work as a committee isn’t just to put on a fantastic carnival – it’s to help charities support local people.”

Mrs Sarychkin added: “Santa Claus will be coming at around 4.30pm with sweets for all the children who have been good all year, plus there will be lots of stalls for the adults to do their Christmas shopping while they wait for him.

“Entertainment will come from Rayleigh Brass, the Maldon Bell Ringers, the Hearts in Harmony Choir and the Ormiston Rivers Choir. All in all, it’s promising to be a wonderful afternoon and we hope lots of people will come and support us.”
