A COMMUNITY shop in the Dengie has had its brand new coffee room inaugurated by an MP.

The Bradwell Community Shop has a new “Coffee and Chat” area and Maldon MP John Whittingdale cut the ribbon at the opening ceremony.

A spokesman said: “The Shop was filled with a happy crowd of villagers, visitors, and friends from the Down Hall residential home who enjoyed a cup of tea or coffee and a cake.

“Chairman Brian Main thanked John for performing the opening ceremony and thanked the Essex Community Foundation for processing the grant for money donated by the Bradwell Wind Farm Community Fund.

“This paid for a new kitchen area with sink, cupboard units, oven, and new flooring.

“It also paid for block paving in the back yard outside to improve access.

“The beautiful new seating, the interior decorations, and restored sash windows were financed out of shop funds, and the work was carried out by our committee members, our staff, and a local craftsman.

“Residents and visitors can relax and chat on comfortable seating around the bay window in the back room.

“We look forward to locals and visitors using this lovely new facility.”
