AN AWARD-WINNING music group is bringing Christmas cheer to Burnham at its upcoming concert.

The Burnham Music Group, made up of a collection of amateur singers from the area, is set to perform its candlelit Christmas concert at St Mary’s Church in Church Road.

The performance will include appearances from a host of guest singers including, Suzanne Walker, Melanie Sanders, Andrew Lang and Terry Saunders, who will lead the choir in performing a range of festive favourites and traditional pieces.

The choir has been performing for more than 40 years, inviting singers from professional performers to beginners to come and be a part of the group.

The performances may be accompanied by just an organ or a full orchestra.

David Hucklesby, from the choir group, said: “Burnham Music Group prides itself on the breadth of its repertoire and often chooses to sing pieces that are less familiar to its potential audience, especially choral music of the present.

“Although much of what the choir produces is challenging, we hope that it proves satisfying to choir and audience alike.”

The performance at St Mary’s Church is one of two annual concerts the choir holds in May and December.

The group is always happy to welcome new members to attend its weekly rehearsals on Tuesday nights at Burnham Primary School in Dunkirk Road from 7.45pm.

Mr Hucklesby added: “Although we expect high standards of ourselves in responding to the music we perform, we do not hold auditions, and anyone who is willing to commit themselves to the music week by week is most welcome to join us.”

The concert will be held on Saturday, December 8 from 7.45pm.

Tickets will be £10 for adults and £12 for concessions.

People under 16 enter free.

Tickets are available from the Limes Farm Shop and Savage Chemist.

They can also be bought on the door.
