ARTISTIC girls from the Maldon District have created a beautiful tribute to the centenary of the end of the First World War.

A host of rainbows, brownies, guides and rangers from the area gave up their time to create an installation in memory of the war at the Methodist Church in High Street.

Felicity Chapman, district commander for Maldon was very proud of the achievement from the girls, whose ages ranged from five to 16-years-old.

She said: "It was lovely to see girls from our 11 units come together to make these poppies.

"As part of girl guiding, we always ask them to think about their community and we always want to be taking part in it.

"Some of our units meet at the church for their sessions, and other groups meet in halls around the district.

"We are very grateful to the church for doing it and they are very happy with what we created too."
