A FILM based on a play set during the First World War will be shown in Maldon.
The Maldon Film Club will be showing Journey’s End, a film version of R C Sherriff’s classic play at Maldon Town Hall in Market Hill on Tuesday, November 6.
A spokesman said: “Sherriff drew on his own experiences in the trenches to write the play which tells the story of a group of soldiers waiting to be bombarded and anticipating certain death.
“Journey’s End charts the tension and claustrophobia of the Officers’ dug out as new recruit 18-year-old Lieutenant Raleigh joins the Company commanded by 20-year-old Captain Stanhope, his former childhood friend and hero, who has changed almost beyond recognition.”
Door open at 7.15pm with wine and soft drinks available from 7.30pm.
The film begins at 8pm.
Annual subscription is £25 and guests are welcome for £3.
