BRIGHTLINGSEA Regent boss Tom Rothery hopes to freshen up his attacking options by bringing another striker to the club.

The R's have made two seven-day approaches and hope to have a new signing on board by the end of this week.

Rothery believes he is one front man short - either an out-and-out goalscorer or a creative wide man - and believes an addition in that mould would give his side more balance.

"I'm still looking to get one more forward in and have a couple of seven-day approaches in," he said.

"We need another player of that ilk - someone to score goals, give us a fresh option and balance our squad.

"I'm only one or two players away from being really happy with my squad and hopefully, if we are able to strengthen, we'll kick on again."

Regent had no game last weekend as scheduled opponents Worthing were in FA Cup action against Ebbsfleet United.

However, they return to Bostik League premier division action tomorrow with a trip to Harlow Town.

The R's have drawn their last two matches, at Whitehawk (1-1) and Enfield Town (0-0).

The latter result saw them climb out of the bottom three.

"We've got better as the season's gone on," added Rothery.

"I'm not saying we're the finished article but we've definitely become more solid and harder to beat.

"Our last two results reflect that and I was particularly pleased with the point at Enfield.

"They've got goals throughout their team but we were solid, organised and created chances.

"It was a very good all-round performance and will give us confidence as it was our first clean sheet of the season."

The Regent players took advantage of a weekend off by arranging a golf day on Saturday.

It was followed by a meal and drinks in Colchester.

"It was great for team bonding and lovely to spend a bit of quality time together," added Rothery.

"While we obviously enjoy our football, it can be quite high-pressure at times and so it was nice to see each other in a different environment and relax in a social capacity.

"I think that's really important and it's something we've always done at Brightlingsea.

"(Former manager) James Webster was also hot on that kind of thing and I feel the same way.

"You see people differently and it brings people out of their shells, especially the new players.

"It's all part of the settling in process and hopefully it'll bear fruit in terms of our performances on the pitch. That's the main thing."
