A SPANISH film will be screened in Maldon next week.

The Maldon Film Club will be showing the film A Fantastic Woman on Tuesday, October 23 at the Maldon Town Hall in High Street.

A spokesman said: “A Fantastic Woman, our first Spanish film of the new season, describes how Marina still raw with grief from the death of her lover Orlando has to navigate the horrors of recounting to his family the night that he died.

“The family’s response to the fact that she is a trans woman range from frosty to scabrous and even hostile.

“She is left to fight for her rights, her home and even her dog.”

“The season continues until May 2019 with films being shown fortnightly on Tuesdays in 2018 and Wednesdays in 2019.

“You are welcome to come along as my guest when you can meet members of the committee and, if you wish, pay your annual subscription on the night.

“So join now and enjoy the remaining 16 films.”

The price of an annual subscription is £25 which entitles members to admission to all of the season’s films.

There are a limited number of places for junior members aged 16-18 in full time education and training at the reduced cost of £18.

Guests are welcome for £3 per film.

As a member you will be asked to give your reaction to the films you have seen and also help the committee compile the programme for the following season.

Door open at 7.15pm for an 8pm start. Refreshments will be available.
