A BUSINESS which helps women with breast cancer is celebrating its first anniversary.

The Bra Consultancy at White Elm Garden Centre in Bicknacre, Danbury, is a business offering a tailored, personal bra-fitting service to women across Essex, Suffolk and London.

Customers include those who have fought breast cancer, undergone mastectomies and had cosmetic surgery.

Owner Julie Blanche said: “We have had an amazing first year helping lots of ladies and providing a much-needed personal bra-fitting service for ladies struggling to find the right bra.

“Our mastectomy and pre and post-surgery service has greatly increased, and it’s been a pleasure helping these ladies following breast cancer, working alongside the surgeons and nurses to help ladies with our personal, friendly bra service, making sure our ladies feel comfortable with their bras and prosthesis.

“In the last year we have expanded our range to swimwear and mastectomy swimwear and swim prosthesis, and this will be in store all year round.

“This addition has proved popular with all our clients as we have become a one-stop shop for all their lingerie and swimwear needs.

“We have been nominated for two awards this month – the Against Breast Cancer achievement company of the year award and Underlines award for bra shop of the year.

“Our plans for next year are to expand our service with more beautiful lingerie looks and give more ladies a positive bra-fitting experience.”

She added: “Thank you to everyone who popped in to help us celebrate.

“Although the weather was not kind to us we greeted our clients with a glass of Prosecco and chocolates.

“We have been so lucky to meet such lovely clients and look forward to meeting many more.”

The business also held a raffle in aid of breast cancer which will be drawn this Friday on Wear It Pink Day.
