FRENFORD 1

HARWICH AND PARKESTON 3

Thurlow Nunn League

division one south

HARWICH were forced to make changes, with eight members of their squad injured or unavailable.

However, manager Kieron Shelley and assistant Mike Wallace were delighted with the performance of their rejigged team.

The Shrimpers were held up in heavy traffic and the match kicked off 15 minutes late, in horrendous weather conditions.

Despite this, Harwich made a good start and took the lead through Kevin Coyle. Frenford equalised but Tyler Rose, on loan from Needham Market, set up Coyle and he netted his and Harwich's second.

Luke Barnard scored the third goal to give his side a comfortable half-time lead.

After the break, Frenford pushed forward to try and come back into contention.

However, Harwich defended well and weathered the storm.

The Shrimpers played intelligently to close down the hosts' best players, while in attack the speedy Rose and Barnard formed a dangerous partnership.

There were good performances throughout the team to earn three well-deserved points.

On Saturday, Harwich have an attractive fixture when they entertain second-placed Halstead Town at the Royal Oak (kick-off 3pm).
