Thurrock endured a sobering second-half at Camberley as they went down 50-11 in London 2 South on Saturday.

Camberley crossed the try line for the first time after six minutes but the visitors soon fought back.

Some good attacking moves finally paid dividends and, after 14 minutes, they converted two penalties to get on the scoreboard at 7-6.

And Thurrock took the lead shortly afterwards.

On 20 minutes a clever chip resulted in a left winger outpacing the defence to score in the corner.

Leading 11-10 at the break, Thurrock were looking to capitalise on their good first 40 minutes but it wasn’t to be as Camberley fought back in some style.

Three minutes after the break Camberley retook the lead and they never looked back.

The day ended with seven tries for the home team, six of which were converted and 40 unanswered points against Thurrock after the interval.

The result leaves Thurrock in 11th position in the standings ahead of a home clash with Havant on Saturday.
