BASILDON United lost their 100 per cent start to the Isthmian North season as they drew 1-1 at Brentwood Town.

The Bees were looking to make it eight league wins on the spin but were dealt an early setback.

Former Bowers & Pitsea winger Alfie Hilton found space on eight minutes and played in a fine cross for Luke Foster to smash home.

Brentwood were dominant but the Bees equalised against the run of play. On 26 minutes, a corner was sent in by Eljay Worrell and Conor Mead was on hand to head in unmarked at the back post.

Foster struck the post from a narrow angle as Town aimed to respond but it was Basildon in the ascendency. Worrell fizzed a fierce shot wide as the half neared its end.

The second half was a slow burner, with Charlie Kendall well kept out by goalkeeper Rob Budd with 15 minutes remaining and, despite numerous late chances, the winner wasn't forthcoming.

Great Wakering Rovers were 2-1 winners against Dereham Town.

Jake Gordon struck the first blow for Wakering on 21 minutes and it was to get better before the half was out. George Cox added a second five minutes before the half was out.

Dior Frary pulled one back for Dereham but it wasn't enough as Wakering held on.
