MALDON’S performance at this year’s Anglia in Bloom awards is nothing short of astonishing.

For a town to with the prestigious gold award just once is an achievement.

To win it four years running is quite remarkable.

Maldon’s success shows just how much effort the band of volunteers have poured into the town.

It is a tribute not only to them but to everyone who pitches in, from the councils to community groups, businesses and sponsors.

Importantly, winning an Anglia In Bloom award doesn’t just mean a town or village boasts an array of pretty floral displays.

It is so much more than that.

Community involvement also plays a key role when it comes to judging, along with environmental quality, biodiversity and the involvement of youngsters.

It is all about making somewhere a better place to live.

And there can be no doubt whatsoever that Maldon in Bloom achieves just that.

The team has marked 21 years serving the town.

Long may it continue.
