A COUNCIL has paid tribute to its former chief executive following her departure.
Fiona Marshall, who served as Maldon District Council’s Chief Executive from 2010, was made redundant in July this year following the council’s decision to proceed with a three director leadership team.
The decision was made as part of a wider scale transformation process at the council, which is set to make a number of other redundancies in coming months.
At a full council meeting on Thursday evening, Ms Marshall was thanked by chairman of the council Henry Bass and other members for her work over the years.
Mr Bass said: “Fiona Marshall joined the council in 2005, becoming a chief support officer in 2006 before becoming the council’s chief executive in 2010, that’s 13 years given to this council and I felt it would have been unreasonable to not recognise that.”
Ms Marshall: “In total I have been working in Maldon for 25 years, first starting as an accountant in the 1980s, so I have been in the area for quite a long period of time and have built up a long list of great colleagues and friends.
“Maldon is a particularly special place and the people are passionate about that, they really do care.”
