A MUSIC duo from Maldon have managed to raise money for charity by busking all over the town.

Oxfam invited musicians all over the country to organise fund raising charity busks as part of the Oxjam Festival.

Music group Carol and Suki, made up of Carol Bonard and Suki Swindale, organised their own event in Maldon.

The pair from Maldon were to be found busking outside All Saints Church in High Street on August 18 where they were joined by other musicians from the area such as Lyz le Fey, Andrew Arnold, Lucia Holm and members of the Just Be Happy band.

Due to the success of the first event, Carol and Suki organised a second busk for August 27 down at the Hythe Quay.

In total, they raised £175.

Band member Carol Bonard said: “We were really pleased as it was a wonderful time.

“The high street one was going to be the only one we did.

“But it went so well that we decided to do another one and asked our friends if they could join in.”

“It was a fabulous time and a lovely day on the Quay.

“Several people stopped to listen and there was dancing and clapping.

“That was the first time that we have done something like that.

She also said that she thinks busking is a wonderful concept at that they may do another charity busk in the future.
