A SERIES of exhibitions to commemorate the centenary of the First World War will be coming to Maldon.

The Danger Tree will see two free interactive art exhibitions looking at the Great War coming to the town.

They feature original paintings and limited edition prints using state-of-the-art augmented reality software to bring each piece alive through poetry, animation and music.

Visitors will be able to use the technology to watch the paintings transform into a 3D experience using hand-held devices and headphones.

Each painting will tell the story of soldiers who fought and fell in the Great War from 1914 to 1918.

The exhibition was created by award-winning artists Scarlett Raven and Marc Marot and it will mark the first time the artwork has come to Essex.

An introduction to the work will be held on October 25 from 7pm at the United Reformed Church in Maldon.

It will run at the Maeldune Centre from October 27 to November 13 showing ten portraits of soldiers from the Great War and at the Moot Hall from October 27 to November 18 with oil paintings depicting images of the Great War by Scarlett Raven.

Maldon District Council and Maldon Town Council have organised the events.

A final commemoration event called Battles Over will take place in Promenade Park on November 11.
