A INQUEST has opened into the death of a St Lawrence man.
Paul Hodgkin, 57, died in the village on August 3 after he was involved in a boating incident.
Mr Hodgkin had been in a speedboat which crashed into another boat in the River Blackwater near the village. Ambulance crews were called but he sadly died from his injuries.
The inquest into Mr Hodgkin’s death opened at Essex Coroner’s Court in Chelmsford on August 13.
It has been adjourned to be heard in full on November 23 at 11am.
Mr Hodgkin was a resident of St Lawrence and a member of the Stone Watersports Club based in Main Road.
The club have announced details of Mr Hodgkin’s funeral and celebration of his life, which will be held on Friday.
The funeral service will begin at 1.45pm at St Lawrence Church, with his life celebration taking place afterwards at the club on Main Road.
