AN established guitarist in Maldon will be performing in the at the end of the month.

Acoustic guitarist and songwriter David Hughes will make a rare appearance on Saturday, July 28 at the Barge Tea Rooms in Cook’s Yard, Hythe Quay.

The venue is on the sailing barge Resourceful.

Mr Hughes said: “The Barge Tea Rooms is the perfect venue for me.

“It has a room below decks that can seat up to fifty people with a wonderful small stage.

“It’s an intimate space just right for my kind of concert.”

Mr Hughes has appeared at festivals and theatres all over the country, in mainland Europe and on BBC Radio Four.

His six solo CDs include “Active In The Parish” named by Q magazine as one of their albums of the year.

In 2015, he released his fifth album Songs Of Integrity which was recorded live at the Blue Boar Hotel.

He has performed with acts such as Eddi Reader, Fairport Convention, Pentangle and Bert Jansch.

He is also the writer and voice of YouTube sensation Dengie Boy and co-author of Cough Your Way To Fitness.

The Tea Rooms has a licensed bar and an open deck area for summer evenings.

Doors open at 7pm and the concert begins at 8pm.
