MP John Whittingdale visited Burnham Rugby Club to see volunteers in action as part of a weekend of rugby.

The Conservative MP’s visit was part of the NatWest Rugby Force weekend which saw volunteers clearing ditches, repairing fences and helping to prepare the grounds for the beginning of the new season.

Club President Niall Hornett said: “I’d like to thank all the volunteers who gave up time over the weekend to help out on our Rugby Force weekend.

“The amount of work that was accomplished was phenomenal, and it’s a great credit to all the hard work that was put in.

“It was great to see new faces, kids and former players all helping out, and reinforces what a great community club we are.

“It was also great to see our MP John Whittingdale, our mayor Wendy Stamp and councillors Peter Elliott and Vanessa Bell all come down to support us and see the efforts and work that we do as a community sports club.”
