A GROUP of dog walkers joined in on a worldwide event in Heybridge last Sunday.

The Great Global Greyhound Walk of 2018 was held on June 10.

Organiser Liam Stubbings said: “This used to be call the Great British Greyhound Walk but we started to get walks registered outside the UK so we changed the name.

“A group of us met down Heybridge Basin and walked around the sea wall and back down the canal before having a raffle to raise a few pounds for Clarks Farm greyhound rescue.

“We had 22 sight hounds and four other breeds walking with us.

“There were just over 100 UK walks and so far, more than 3000 sighthounds have been recorded with a few results left to come in.

“This is a great way to show people what great pets they make.

“They can live with small animals like cats, they don’t need a lot of exercise, and they aren’t high maintenance as, after their walk, they spend most of the time asleep on the sofa.”
