A SAILING club has announced its annual open day will return to get people onto the water this spring.

The Marconi Sailing Club in Steeple will be holding their annual open day on May 26, which was last year attended by Olympic gold medalist Saskia Clarke.

The MSC Open Day is part of the Royal Yachting Association’s (RYA) nationwide “have-a-go” initiative called “Push the Boat Out”.

It enables anyone, from novice to experienced, to get out on the water and try dinghy and catamaran sailing, windsurfing, keelboat sailing and yachting in a safe and family friendly environment.

Land lovers young and old will also be catered for with a Bouncy Castle, Craft Tent, refreshments and an evening BBQ available.

Saskia Clarke, Rio 2016 Gold medalist and special guest at MSC’s 2017 Open Day said: “I got into sailing through my local sailing club, so it’s fantastic to see so many people given the opportunity to discover what the sport’s all about right on their doorstep.”

The open day will be held at the club on Stansgate Road from midday until 6pm.
